Thanks for stopping by, look around and get to know me through this journal of mostly wedding stuff and my life in photography.  You can also find me in facebook through the links section in the menu.

A wedding is once in a lifetime and I respect this live event by artfully documenting it unobtrusively, quietly, and without direction.  Representing real moments and feelings that make up a wedding event with honest and compelling images is a thrill for me and I am blessed to have the opportunity to share what I do with others.  Timeless images is my goal. "I look back on my images and remember what I was feeling" was the ultimate compliment from a past bride.  I want every couple to say this.

Numb

I was on my way home from a friend’s house last night when I was drawn back to a place we had tried to shoot earlier in the day.  After dinner my friend and I had a nice conversation about a priest, and getting to meet this priest was on my mind as I drove home.  I pulled into the same spot around 10:10PM, and the image had not yet come to me.  Near the end of shooting I could not feel my hands, there was no pain, nothing.  This is the last image I took.  Happy Sunday!

Slide Film | Beth & Tony

I had a some slide film left to shoot in and old Canon AE-1, so I grabbed it to finish off the roll with Beth & Tony. The slides just came in. Here are untouched images I shot.  Camera and lens were manual exposure and focus.  Let me know your thoughts.

Turtle, Frog, Snake, Lizard, Fish, People

Staska has always had a phobia of snakes but since children have entered, her fear has subsided.  Reason; the reptile house and particularly snakes and turtles have become Kathryn’s and now Luke’s favorite.  Kathryn makes artwork with snakes in them and has stuffed snakes all over the house.  Yesterday before we picked up Evelyn from School I decided to treat the kids (and myself) to some zoo.  I love the zoo when hardly anyone is there.  The trick is to know where to find the animals.  Reptile house and aquarium are sure bets.  Photographers:  all images taken with 50 1.4 no flash.  Photographs are displayed in order of capture.

Columbus Wedding | Beth & Tony

People traveled from all over the country to be here in Columbus this past weekend to be a part of Beth & Tony’s special wedding day. Beth spent the morning at her parent’s house in north Columbus with all her girls.  Most of the girls traveled from St. Louis where Beth grew up.  Tony and the the boys played if cool at the church playing cards, while Beth and the girls finished getting ready upstairs.  Once Beth & Tony laid eyes on each other that was it, they would barely be a part the rest of the day.  After the ceremony at Holy Cross Church we headed to The State House for some fun.  Then it was off to the Columbus Athletic Club to party.  Thank you Nate at Prodigy Video for hanging with us, and for Courtney for shooting with me.  Most of all thank you Beth & Tony for allowing me to be a fun part of one of the most special days in your life and do what I love to do.  What a blast!  Can’t wait to see you again, in HAWAII!

Photographers:  A little bit of photo info, most images made with 50 1.2 and 35 1.4 shot wide open or close to it.  Some of the State House shots we added a portable small soft-box.
